Costa Mesa fire crews deployed to Timber Fire on Central Coast

Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue personnel have been deployed to the Timber Fire on the Central Coast as part of an Office of Emergency Services strike team.

Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue personnel work through dense vegetation on the Central Coast

The fire has grown to more than 15,000 acres, according to the department. Costa Mesa personnel assigned to OES 1607 have been working in several divisions, including B, K and D.

Crews are pursuing hot spots, strengthening hand lines and conducting tactical patrols to help secure the fire perimeter.

Costa Mesa is part of Strike Team 1863F, alongside firefighters from Orange, Long Beach, Anaheim and Huntington Beach. The crews are working with fire personnel from across the region to protect communities and help bring the blaze under control.
