Costa Mesa Historical Society celebrates 60th anniversary with a weekend of events

In the month of August, the Costa Mesa Historical Society is celebrating a milestone 60 years in the making and the community is invited to a weekend of memorable events honoring the history, culture and community of Costa Mesa.

An Afternoon at the Adobe

On Saturday, Aug. 29 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., come enjoy a community celebration at the Diego Sepúlveda Adobe in Estancia Park, located at 1900 Adams Ave., Costa Mesa.

Festivities include tours of the adobe, local museum exhibitions and displays, hands-on demonstrations, food and refreshments, live mariachi music and family fun for all ages. Admission is free.

An Evening at the Museum & Gala

Continue the celebration on Sunday evening as community and business leaders, elected officials and friends of Costa Mesa come together to celebrate the city’s rich history and the future of historic preservation.

–Reception and Museum Open House from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Costa Mesa Historical Society Museum, 1870 Anaheim Ave., Costa Mesa. Guests are invited to explore exhibitions, archives and collections highlighting the evolution of Costa Mesa and the continuing transformation of the museum as the Society enters its next chapter.

The museum open house offers a rare opportunity to experience the collection in an intimate setting while connecting with fellow supporters of local history, arts, culture, and preservation.

–Dinner and Program from 6-8:30 pm. at the Norma Hertzog Center, 1845 Park Ave., Costa Mesa. Enjoy a panel discussion featuring Costa Mesa community leaders, a silent auction and chance to support the Costa Mesa Historical Society’s future and celebrate the Costa Mesa Historical Society’s 60th anniversary.
