City officials celebrate the grand opening of Casa Libre Café Mexico at Mercado González with restaurant staff and family
Founded by Taormina and Jeremy Creighton, Casa Libre is a specialty café centered on coffee grown in Mexico. Beans from regions including Chiapas and Veracruz are roasted on-site, allowing customers to explore the distinct flavors and coffee traditions of Mexico’s growing regions.
The café serves espresso, brewed coffee and specialty drinks such as the El Jaguar Latte, made with corn, cacao and chile syrup, and El Colibrí, which features café de olla syrup. Its house-made syrups and recipes draw on Mexican culinary traditions.
Casa Libre also offers pastries including a chocolate chip galleta, almond croissant and the Colibrí Galleta, a gingerbread hummingbird cookie from Pastelería González.
The café is the latest addition to Mercado González.
