Ketchum-Libolt Park renovation nears completion in Costa Mesa

Construction on the renovation and expansion of Ketchum-Libolt Park is nearing completion, with new playground equipment, rubber surfacing, walkways, shade shelters and improved lighting now installed.

The contractor is continuing work on decorative fencing, picnic tables, irrigation and landscaping, according to the city.

The project also incorporates lines of poetry stamped into the concrete, a feature previously used at Brentwood Park. City officials said the addition reflects Costa Mesa’s identity as the “City of the Arts.”

Ketchum-Libolt Park commemorates fallen Costa Mesa Police Officers James “Dave” Ketchum and John “Mike” Libolt. The renovation and expansion are intended to further preserve their memory.

A major portion of funding for the project came through an earmark secured by the office of State Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris.

The Costa Mesa Public Works Department thanked residents for their cooperation during construction.
